NY - Angelica NY Heritage Days

Area Activities
Angelica NY is a “town where history lives.” Angelica was settled in 1802 and is the oldest town in Allegany County NY. The small village was founded by Captain Philip Church, nephew of Alexander Hamilton. Capt. Church named the town in honor of his mother, Angelica Church, daughter of Gen. Philip Schuyler. Today, only 1000 residents reside in this peaceful town. Located in the beautiful countryside of the Allegany Mountain Foothills, Angelica is a preserved, historic American treasure that breathes quaint sentiments, reminiscent of frontier days. In 2000, Angelica’s population was less than it is was in the year 1830!

Visitors are drawn to Angelica NY for a variety of reasons. Evoking affection for by-gone days and reminiscent of an old New England community, Angelica NY offers a rare and authentic glimpse into our nation’s past. With over 100 historic homes and buildings, Angelica’s streets are pedestrian friendly and reflect the design of a19th century community.

With the combination of Letchworth State Park, some of the best deer hunting in NY, Angelica NY Heritage Days and the Allegany County Fair, Angelica and Allegany County NY blend elements for the perfect Western NY vacation. Come enjoy the beauty and seclusion of Evergreen Trails Campground located just outside of Angelica and choose among the many activities Angelica and Allegany County NY have to offer.
